The Shalom Park Freedom School Needs Volunteers Like You!

Unfortunately, as a result of the pandemic, Shalom Park Freedom School will not have in-person volunteers this summer.

Freedom School Partners is making volunteer opportunities available this summer.

If you would like to volunteer with Freedom School Partners, please look here

We rely on support from volunteers of all ages to provide our scholars with a summer experience they will never forget.

Take a look at this list of Volunteer Opportunities to learn about one-time and ongoing opportunities to volunteer.

Pick the date and desired volunteer activity and then you will be prompted to create a volunteer profile on the Volunteer Hub. All volunteers are required to accept Freedom School Partners’ Child Protection Policy and COVID-19 Guidelines. This is done for the safety and security of our scholars and volunteers. Once the registration process is completed, volunteers can sign up for activities and events! Parents of younger teen volunteers are required to use their volunteer profile when signing up for volunteer opportunities.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR TEENS (Rising 10th, 11th, and 12th Graders)

High school students (only 10th grade through rising 12th grade) can volunteer without parental supervision and are invited to apply for a leadership role on the Shalom Park Freedom School Teen Board. Teen Board members volunteer as school assistants, committing to at least two consecutive weeks. Assistants work five days a week, from 8:15 am – 4:15 pm (Tues, Wed, Thurs) and 8:15 am –  3:15 pm (Mon, Fri). Responsibilities include: working in classrooms, accompanying teachers and students on field trips, planning activities for the classroom, securing and delivering supplies, and other assistance as needed. Swimming with scholars will be required. Teen Board members also fundraise to sponsor a young scholar for the summer.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG TEENS (Rising 7th, 8th, or 9th Graders)-Unfortunately, there will not be in-person volunteering for young teens during the 2021 summer program.

Younger Teens (rising 7th, 8th or 9th graders) must be accompanied by a parent or other adult, who has completed the volunteer registration process, when volunteering onsite and offsite. The parent or adult is responsible for the younger teen’s safety and compliance with Freedom School safety and behavior standards. Please sign up above with the link next to “SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER THIS SUMMER” in the Adult Volunteer section above. Adults can sign up themselves and the young teen they are supervising.

Younger teens with their parents can volunteer with Level 1 (K-2) classes. Volunteer opportunities include Harambee, On-site Activities, Field Trip Chaperone, Meet and Greet Desk Assistant, Videography/Photography, Site Set-Up/Break-Down, Supply Drive, Field Day Support, Parent Evenings, Finale, and Appreciation Bags for Interns.
